Trusting God in the Hard Times Spread the Word!

One Thing That Never Changes…

September 18th, 2006

Well, fall is officially upon us. That’s right - we’ve come through yet another summer season. It seems like just last week that the weather started getting warmer and families were planning their vacations. The fall season is a time of change. Soon enough, the leaves on the trees will start to change their colors, and the temperature will continue to drop. Change is inevitable when fall comes around.

However, many of us aren’t always ready to embrace the changes that life brings our way. They make us uncomfortable or uneasy. Our children getting older, for example, remind us that they’ll eventually move out on their own. As the times change, we’re given constant reminders that life may not always be as it once was. Change happens, but it’s also a very natural process in our lives.

Without change, where would we be? Without change, how would we mature? How would we learn? How would we grow? We must embrace change as it enters our lives.

However, the Bible tells us that there is one thing that never changes. Hebrews 13:8 clearly states that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Our God never changes. No matter how hard the winds of change might blow our way, the God we serve is unchangeable.

Isn’t that an amazing promise? The God that forgave us in the past still extends his forgiveness to us today. The one who calmed the waters and parted the seas still brings comfort and protection in our time of need. The one whose love we read about throughout the pages of Scripture loves us now as much as he ever did!

The world may change faster than we like for it to, but rest assured that our God will never change.
